Online Lunchtime Talks: Snapshots in the global history of tea
Discover the fascinating history of tea through a programme of short online talks in April 2022 in partnership with Art That Made Us Festival.

How did tea become the world’s favourite beverage and an enduring symbol of British culture? Join the Chitra Collection curatorial team as we explore how the taste for tea shaped the modern world.
From its origins in China, tea became a global trade commodity that fuelled British imperialism, triggered wars and revolutions, and generated complex social rituals involving the production and use of highly-crafted luxury tea services. Our stunning collection of historic tea wares tells this story.
