Urn and stand
This Jugendstil silver urn has four spouts and an oil burner to heat water and keep it warm. Jugendstil (“Youth Style”) was an art movement that emerged in Germany during the mid-1890s and continued until the First World War. Its name derives from the Munich periodical Die Jugend, which focused on Art Nouveau. Early Jugendstil design followed the wider Art Nouveau movement in its use of natural forms and folk art themes, though its later phase saw a transition towards the more geometric and functional designs of 20th century Modernism.
