Founded in 1889, Lenox Ceramic Art Company was organised as a small workshop of skilled artisans initially specialising in the production of one-of-a-kind ceramic wares. The studio was based in Trenton (New Jersey), one of the major pottery centres in the United States nicknamed ‘The Staffordshire of America’. This cobalt-blue tea set decorated with silver is typical of the Art Nouveau style, which became fashionable at the turn of the 20th century.
