Each piece in this four piece tea set is engraved with the initials KCO, most likely for a previous owner. The set was made in Glasgow and is decorated with scenes connected to the life of the Scottish poet Robert Burns (1759-1796). The milk jug features various views of landmarks in Burns’s hometown of Alloway, including the cottage where he was born and the old Church. The set also includes scenes inspired by incidents from his poems.
