Kettle and stand
This silver-gilt hot water kettle was produced in Sneek in the province of Friesland, Netherlands. Alte de Groot-Boersma (1839-1915) was a registered silversmith who produced domestic vessels for tea, chocolate and coffee drinking, decorated with chasing and repoussé work in various decorative styles. He founded his own silversmithing company around 1875, which his son Frederick took over in 1909. This kettle is richly embossed with scrolls of foliage and flowers, enclosing a cartouche of military figures with hounds.
